•Eliminates grease problems in
sewer plants and food processors |
| The Problem Wastewater containing grease represents a significant challenge for treatment at wastewater treatment plants. This type of wastewater traditionally has congealed in lines, upset activated sludge systems and digestors, and generally was considered to be non-compatible with any type of wastewater treatment facility. Restaurants, fast food establishments, food processors, hotels, institutions, etc., are required to have a grease trap that permits the grease to congeal and prevents the grease from being discharged into the sewer system. However, the congealed grease must periodically be removed from the traps for disposal. The Solution RGF developed a proprietary system which is compatible with existing wastewater treatment facilities, making it possible to efficiently treat and process wastewater laden with grease prior to discharge into anaerobic or aerobic digester systems. The RGF process consists of a series of specially designed reactors through which the grease is chemically treated under a fully automated program. The Chemistry This congealed grease from commercial grease traps must be removed periodically and disposed of by some approved method. The volume of material disposed of will depend upon the size of the traps and type of facility, which range from 75 to over 1,000 gallons. The chemistry in the process generates a reaction in which the grease is reduced to a solution, which permits it to be acceptable to the plant's digestor or headworks without chemical or biological impact.
